Brangelina Went On Their Honeymoon & Made A Movie, Too

Talk about time management skills. While most couple's honeymoons consist of peel-and-eat shrimp and baby-making, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to use their first trip as husband and wife for movie-making instead.
Up until now, very little was known about By The Sea, their first onscreen collaboration since 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith. We knew that Jolie was writing and directing the intimate drama, and that the real life couple would once again be playing husband and wife. Now, Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at the film, which the couple has been filming while vacationing with their family off the coast of Malta, in what Jolie has described as a "workingmoon."
The film will follow an American writer (Pitt) and his a wife, a former dancer (Jolie), as they travel to France during the mid-1970s. After settling in a quaint seaside town, the cracks in their relationship begin to emerge as they become "sexually obsessed with their neighbors," according to People magazine.
Could Pitt and Jolie be trying to channel Eyes Wide Shut, which also starred an absurdly famous couple (Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman) whose onscreen marriage becomes undone as a result of their nocturnal sexual escapades?
“I chose to set By the Sea in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey,” Jolie told EW. While no release date has been set, we're guessing sometime next fall in the heart of awards season would make the most sense. With her upcoming WWII drama Unbroken expected to be a major Oscar contender this year, Jolie is quickly establishing herself as one of Hollywood's most prestigious directors.
