In the past, it's been hard to pin down what exactly made Gwyneth Paltrow into the free-thinking aesthete she is today. Thanks to a revelation the actress made on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live, however, we may have finally reached the nucleus of the Goop-iness. Apparently, up until fifth grade, Paltrow attended some sort of hippie school.
At this educational institution — if you can even call it that — Gwyneth didn't learn things like you or I did. In fifth grade, we learned things like long division, how to dissect a novel, and the art of book reports. Paltrow actually "didn't learn anything," she told Kimmel.
"We used to meditate in the mornings, and then we had one teacher who was really into that song 'Sexual Healing' by Marvin Gaye," she continued. "In fifth grade, every morning we came into 'Sexual Healing,' and we would dance." In one class called "Emotional Movement," every time the teacher banged on a tambourine, Gwyneth and pals had to make a shape to express their feelings.
That actually sounds fantastic and a lot more fun than the aforementioned long division we were doing. We have to wonder, though, if Paltrow still has a Pavlovian response of throwing shapes every time she hears a tambourine. If only we could get close enough to her to test this theory. (Crushable)
