Robin Williams Remembered: A Twitter Tribute

That feeling of grief that the news of a celebrity's death elicits doesn't have a proper word in our language, but it's safe to say it's a unique blend of longing, loss, and empathy. We long for their body of work and the projects that they could've added to their already-stunning legacy. We grieve their loss. And, we empathize — not just with their family and friends, but with those around us.
While most people know Robin Williams' work in film, TV, and stand-up, not everyone knew of his struggle with addiction and depression. Until this evening, that is, when we learned that he died of an apparent suicide.
Together, fans and friends have taken to Twitter to memorialize the late actor, creating a live-updating tribute. And, what a beautiful outpouring it has become. 140 characters might not seem like much, but together, each Tweet furthers Williams' legacy and helps foster a community where individuals both famous and unfamiliar can freely grieve and honor an extraordinary individual.
And, if you or anyone you know is depressed and experiencing suicidal thoughts, help is out there: Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
