When news first broke that Charlotte Rampling would be the face of NARS' fall '14 campaign, the Internet began to buzz. Jessica Lange's Marc Jacobs Beauty ad had just been dropped, and the only thing everyone could talk about was how these two women may finally be putting the nail in the "ageism in the beauty industry" coffin. Well, folks, WWD has given us the first look at Rampling's advertisement, and it is, in a word, stunning.
The 68-year-old beauty stands coolly in black and white. Her eyes are rimmed in kohl, and her hair is gently tousled. The advertisement, as well as Charlotte herself, ooze classic sophistication. That said, we don't see much of the collection itself, save for the single tube of lipstick that accompanies her. In fact, since the photo is color-free, we haven't any idea what the shades are going to look like at all — the anticipation is killing us.
If this ad is any proof, there is absolutely a place for women over 40 in the beauty industry. And, while Charlotte is certainly glowing in her own right, that fact is probably the most beautiful thing about all of this. (WWD)
