Anna Paquin Educates Larry King On Bisexuality

When it comes to understanding sexuality, you'd think that Larry King, a veteran journalist who has interviewed men and women from all walks of life, wouldn't be so behind the times. During a recent interview with True Blood's Anna Paquin, King played into the myth of bisexuality. He nonchalantly accused Paquin of being a "former" bisexual.
The interview started out innocently enough, with chit-chat about Paquin's career. But, around the 11-minute mark King asked the actress whether she's a "non-practicing bisexual." Paquin confidently stated she's happily and monogamously married to fellow TB costar Stephen Moyer. King continued to press the issue, asking her to clarify whether she's bi. "I don't think it's a past-tense thing," she said, very matter-of-factly.

"No?" King continued.
"No!" Paquin said. "Are you still straight if you are with somebody? If you were to break up with them or if they were to die, it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that."
Like Jessie J, King seems to be under the impression that bisexuality is something one can turn on and off. Paquin and King proceeded to engage in a brief conversation about the progress the LGBTQ community has made — especially in regards to the media. King seemed to expect Paquin to have all the answers regarding the state of the community, which she, of course, does not. But, she did use her airtime to stress the importance of education through exposure, and as means of shutting down King's oblivious questions. (Out)
