Another recent tome to add to the list: Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch. The movie rights to the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel have just been picked up by Warner Bros. and RatPac Entertainment, with Nina Jacobson's Color Force producing.
Here's the kicker: Brett Ratner will also produce — because nothing says rich storytelling like the guy who directed Rush Hour and Hercules.
Anyway. With a film deal in place, it's time to start speculating about casting. Is there some unknown child actor who will nab the role of young Theo Decker? Will Jacobson, who just wrapped up filming The Hunger Games, involve any of her Panem playmates?
The uptake: You'd best hurry up and finish that hefty hardback if you want to stake any "the book was way better" claims. (The Hollywood Reporter)
