The Unlikely Inspiration Behind Jessica Simpson’s Wedding Hair

Truth be told, Jessica Simpson had all but fallen off our radar in recent months (years?) — until she surprised us by providing the summertime bridal beauty inspiration we'd been craving. Specifically, that hair color. It's a few steps below platinum yet slightly more champagne than your typical sun-kissed blonde look. So, how'd she do it?
Her colorist, Rita Hazan, describes this color as "baby blonde," which is fitting, given the unlikely inspiration for the hue: Simpson wanted to match her two-year-old daughter Maxwell's hair color. That's pretty heartwarming as far as color requests go. Although there's something about the blonde hair of children; it's a color that doesn't really occur naturally on adults. (No wonder Simpson wanted it.) And, it's apparently not that uncommon: Many an A-list colorist have told us that a good portion of their high-profile clients bring in pictures of their offspring as their own hair color goal.
As far as easy color changes go, this isn't one of them. Hazan began prepping Simpson's hair six months in advance to develop this hue. And, to make it look natural, she used subtle highlights that created a dimensional feel. Simpson washed her hair with Rita Hazan Ultimate Shine Color Gloss in Breaking Brass to keep the blonde cool throughout the process. The end result? "A paler, more natural-looking blonde," Hazan says, calling the hue "timeless."
