Lady Gaga's Got A Crush On Canada

comments

Lady Gaga's gradual metamorphosis from envelope-pushing pop star to the beautiful jazz butterfly she's destined to become continued this weekend. In true Artpop fashion, Gaga stopped her Ottawa artRAVE performance to a.) remind the audience she's singing live, and b.) give yet another preview of her forthcoming jazz album with Tony Bennett, Cheek to Cheek.

Gaga covered the Gershwin classic "I've Got A Crush On You" dressed in fishnets and a casual latex leotard, naturally. “What I’ve been wanting to tell you is that, Canada," Gaga said, introducing the cover, "I’ve got a crush on you." She then launched into the track's hook, serenaded the audience, made some people cry because they literally couldn't even, and then continued into "Born This Way." (It's not the most compelling of transitions, but hey, #artpop.)

The video clip is short, but long enough to let the gal's talent shine. Only Gaga could transform an arena-sized show into an intimate lounge — even if it's just for a minute or two. The look doesn't scream jazz (jazz hands, maybe), but this career step isn't about the fashion: It's about the voice. And, man, what a voice it is. (Idolator)
