This New App Is Like Google Street View For Inside Apartments

comments
It's an old story: You step in to view a rental and discover that it's 100% not as advertised. What you thought was your dream home is actually a dingy, natural light-deficient space the size of a closet. You're back to square one. But, hopefully, for the last time.
Rental site Apartment List hopes to prevent any realty-related surprises with a free new app, Look, that shows you every corner, nook, and cranny of an apartment.
Now, potential tenants can take a 360-degree tour of a space before checking it out in person. It's not just the four walls, either -- users can view floors, ceilings, building exteriors, and community amenities. The goal is to cut down the number of places potential renters physically visit. Because, according to their stats, 20% of renters visit seven or more apartments before finding the one.
Currently, the app has 30,000 listings in New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Denver, and Chicago. And, while most of the spaces belong to larger building units (which makes sense since they're easier to shoot all at once), more privately owned spaces should be viewable within the next few months. Here's hoping more landlords jump on board the app with the aim of renting to some quality, tech-friendly tenants (like us).
