She's made rare-but-special appearances in his eponymous runway shows before and recently stomped for Balenciaga, too, for which Wang serves as creative director. It's logical, then, that this would be the brand Ms. Bündchen graces with a major makeover.
While the model oozing appeal in this campaign is to be expected, we wouldn't have guessed she'd show up with the close-cropped 'do that she's sporting in the Steven Klein-lensed, black-and-white photos. Wang is all about sexy (Gisele's specialty), which he achieves by way of strong, androgynous lines. Here, he accomplishes that with the help of G's clean face and the boyish haircut. The hairstyle is tough to pull off, but when you're so well lit, wearing over-the-knee boots, or, you know, Gisele, it totally works. We doubt that she actually went there by chopping her locks for the sake of the campaign, but this could still be the picture that launches a thousand buzzes. (WWD)
