A Third Father Of The Bride Is In The Works

Just when you thought Hollywood had made all the sequels and prequels and trilogies possible, Nikki Finke announces a third Father of the Bride movie is in the works. Disney and Warner Bros. are currently sorting out the rights to the '90s revival.

But, who's getting hitched this time around? Since Annie's been married for, oh, over two decades, Matty is the only one left to tie the knot. Cute! Here's the catch, though: There won't be a bride per se in Father of the Bride 3. Finke revealed that Matty's marrying the son of a Navy SEAL. There's going to be a gay wedding, and Steve Martin (yes, yes, he's comin' back) is going to have to come to terms with that. Finke writes that Martin's George is "thunderstruck and speechless" at his son's coming out, leading his wife to throw George out of the house. Rock on, Nina.

So far, only Steve Martin has been cast. Diane Keaton and Kieran Culkin have not made any official statements. Charles Shyer will once again write and direct.

Our one hope? We're keeping our fingers crossed that Franck Eggelhoffer is planning this one. (Nikki Finke)

Update: Despite what Finke wrote, Steve Martin had no idea a third FOTB was in development. Someone get the wedding planner on the line.
