8 Things To Do In NYC This Week

Your week may seem like it's off to a bleak start — #MondayMeh is 100% a real thing — but we promise things are about to get better. With our list of eight delicious, fun, sporty events on the horizon this week, you're sure to fall in the love with the days to come. Store openings, sample sales, outdoor screenings...we've penned them all down in our calendars. Read on, and you'll likely want to jot the deets down in your own.
Try some vegan, organic, dairy-free ice cream.
Having celebrated its Grand Opening just over a week ago, Sweet Jane's is now offering Astoria residents — and those wise enough to visit — a variety of delicious, frozen, vegan treats. Fudgesicle flavors include "Bohemian Raspberry," "Rhubarb Strawberry Pie," "Buzz Me Up Butter Cup," and more. A mini excursion and a tasty dessert to top it off? Sounds like the perfect way to dive into summer.

This week, Alice & Olivia is taking over the space at 260 Fifth Avenue, offering printed blouses, flowing dresses, and more at a serious discount. We don't doubt the space will be packed with eager deal-finders, and the line will steadily remain around the block. But, with items up to 70% off, the goods will surely be worth the wait.

Hit up a house party.
Vans and FYF are back for their fourth year co-hosting The Vans House Parties. The free summer concert series will kick off this Tuesday with passionate soul singer Charles Bradley and goofball multi-instrumentalist Mac Demarco. Plus, a special guest appearance by Benjamin Booker. Can't make it this Tuesday? Check back to find out the lineup for next week. And, the Tuesday after that. You can't stop the beat.

Alert, alert! Lauren Moffatt will be taking over your closet this week. If you've seen her most recent collection, you probably won't mind. Decorate your walls.
NYC-based start-up Uprise Art's new website, “Uprise Art Shop," offers original, one-of-a-kind artwork for under $800. Each piece travels straight from the artist’s studio to the collector's walls and comes with a certificate of authenticity and information about the artist. New works are added every Thursday, so be sure to check back every week.
When: Thursday, June 12.
Where: Online at the Uprise Art Shop.
Watch some fútbol.
The World Cup kicks off this week in Brazil! Forgot to book your flight? Not a problem. The Standard Biergarten will be screening the games daily and serving up Froze Caipirinhas and a Brazilian "Foodball" Sandwich to boot. Grab some friends and book a table, or stop by for a quick visit after (during?) work. Just don't forget to wear your team colors.
