Photo: Via Twitter. Now that we're a week removed from the wedding of the year/decade/century, it's time to focus on unions a tad more grounded in reality.
Like this one: Melissa Etheridge married girlfriend Linda Wallem at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California on Saturday.
The "Come To My Window" singer tweeted a photo of herself arm-in-arm with her glowing bride, surrounded by flowers and greenery. "True love...so blessed," the caption read. "By the power invested in me by the state of California," Etheridge added, a clear nod to the state's decision to legalize gay marriage.
Etheridge was one of the first celebrities to come out when she announced that she was a lesbian at the Triangle Ball, a gay celebration of President Bill Clinton's first inauguration in 1993. Since then, she's been a vocal advocate of gay rights and same-sex marriage, but had never married.
Now, at age 53, Etheridge can finally get a taste of the married life. And, she seems positively stoked about it.
