Selena Gomez has a complicated history when it comes to her Instagram. But, this may be her biggest move yet on the social medium.
In a play second only to her massive unfollow session back in April, the singer posted a fairly controversial selfie yesterday.
Though the image itself is par for the course in Gomez's unfortunate "I-feel-like-wearing-Indian-things-today" M.O., it's the caption that's got us doing a double take. It reads, "Sari, not sari" followed by a hands-in-prayer emoji. Don't get us wrong: We love a good pun. But, this seems to be Gomez's response to the backlash she received for her consistent appropriation of Indian and Hindu culture. In other words, she saying that she doesn't care.

Today, Gomez followed up with an Instagram of a quote from the Dalai Lama. "Open your arms to change, but do not let go of your values," it reads.
This last post feels a bit ironic when you consider that the Buddhist leader also famously said, "Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace." (Oh No They Didn't)
