"What self-respecting Los Angeleno doesn't have a DUI under their belt?" joked Beverly Hills: 90210 star Jason Priestley on Wednesday's edition of Chelsea Lately. Priestley was discussing his 1999 arrest for driving under the influence, for which he spent five days in jail. At the time, the actor claimed he had swerved his silver Porsche to avoid a deer, but his blood-alcohol test proved that he was over the legal limit.
"You've had a DUI?" Priestley asked the show's host, Chelsea Handler, who was arrested for the same offense when when she was 21. He then gave her a high-five in solidarity, and the crowd cheered.
"The important thing," Handler noted, "is not to get two. Once you get one, then you don't get one again."
Priestley nodded. "You get one. Lesson learned." (NY Daily News)
