If you know what the word "fap" means, then you're probably already giggling like a schoolgirl right now. If you don't know what it means, we'll wait here while this semi-NSFW Urban Dictionary entry enlightens you. Everyone back? Okay, now, the only question is why, in the name of all things decent, would a major (and, usually, majorly classy) retailer sell a garment that proudly proclaims "Fap Island"?
The easy answer is that "FAP" stands for FILLES A PAPA, a Belgian brand that may well not understand why we're all kiki-ing like the silly, prudish Americans that we are. But, surely someone at Net-A-Porter knows this word, right? Or, perhaps someone at SSENSE, which is selling a FAP Island T-shirt — shown on a po-faced model who almost looks like she's trying not to laugh? Come on, guys — are we all just going to sit here and pretend this hilarious thing isn't happening?
Interestingly, Net-A-Porter's marketing copy does refer cryptically to the "playful lettering" on the suit — but, what's so playful about block letters, really? We can't help but wonder if NAP's giving a sly wink to the notion of an Isle of Fap, where everyone's mega-hot, tanned, toned, and in possession of a perfect six-pack. Welp, that's it — we're changing our vacation plans.
