Sure, she was nominated for an Oscar before she was old enough to drive. But, the real question is, can Hailee Steinfeld carry a tune?
We'll find out soon enough, as the teen star has just joined the cast of Pitch Perfect 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2012 musical comedy. The 17-year-old tweeted that she's "so excited" about her new role, and Elizabeth Banks, who will be directing the sequel, sent the True Grit star this Twitter response: "Welcome to the Barden Bellas! Now lace up your dancing shoes, and get your tush down to Baton Rouge."
Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Skylar Astin, and Brittany Snow will reprise their roles as a capella singers in the film, which is due for a May 2015 release. Banks revealed that the characters will be college seniors this time around, though we wonder if Steinfeld's age might make her well-suited to play a freshman who will carry on the mash-up torch.
Though plot details are scarce, we're eager to see Steinfeld show off her pipes. This is definitely one of those times when it pays to count Taylor Swift among your close friends. (Variety)
