A source "close to the situation" confirms to People that the silver fox popped the question to girlfriend Amal Alamuddin "not that long ago." Clooney started dating the Beirut-born 36-year-old last fall.
"George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem," the source says. "I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever."

A rep for the 52-year-old actor, who was wed to Mad Men actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993, declined to comment on the Clooney's private life. However, People reports that Alamuddin was spotted wearing a "huge ring" while dining in Los Angeles with Clooney this week. We'd expect nothing less.
So, who is this mysterious woman who's captured the heart of Hollywood's biggest heartthrob? The British Alamuddin is a lawyer specializing in international law and human rights, which no doubt appeals to her charity-minded beau. She also appears to share his love of travel, joining him on romantic getaways to the Seychelles and Tanzania. And, like Clooney, she's a stunning brunette.
