This Is The Unhappiest Version Of “Happy” You’ll Ever See

"If it's a good movie, the sound could go off and the audience would still have a perfectly clear idea of what was going on," Alfred Hitchcock once said of his thrillers. Unfortunately, this theory doesn't seem to hold true for music videos. Specifically, Pharrell Williams' "Happy."
The evil geniuses at House of Halo decided to see what would happen if they muted the super catchy song and just featured outtakes of Pharrell and his dancing cast mates mumbling to themselves as they shuffle down the street. Folks, it's weird. Like, "you won't believe the dream I had last night" weird.

That's not to say it's not entertaining. And, can we please get the old guy with the badass baritone an appearance on Ellen or something? He is amazing.
Watch the song-less video below to see the creepiness for yourself. Yes, it feels a bit like a musical version of The Walking Dead. But, hey, any excuse to see some Minions shake what their mama gave them. (A.V. Club)
