We've been on the fence about it, loving some of the versions from Fashion Week and shuddering at others. But, whether you love this look or think it's weird, one thing's for sure: Lupita Nyong'o got it right at last night's MTV Movie Awards.
The arrangement of braids atop her head was part beret, part bird's nest. Tipped to one side to evoke an artsy, whimsical accessory, it was the perfect 'do to pair with that playful Chanel dress. Because, really, why keep it simple on the red carpet when you can go all out?
It helps that Nyong'o has the ideal haircut for this braid. Because the sides of her head are shaved, there's nothing to distract from the sculpture on top — a work of art if ever we saw one.
