Hillary Clinton Met Pussy Riot. That Is All.

comments

Pussy Riot is having a major moment in America right now. First, there was the star-studded Amnesty International event in February, where Madonna lauded the persecuted punk group before a thousands-strong audience of Brooklyners. On Sunday, disaster-epic director Roland Emmerich held an even star-studdier soirée in L.A., during which he wrangled donations to provide security for the group and enact prison reform in Russia.

And, in between, there was a run-in with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Ex-Pussy Riot members and until-recently jailed political activists Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina appeared with Clinton at the Women in the World summit in New York on Friday. There, via Twitter, Clinton praised the "strong & brave young women...who refuse to let their voices be silenced in Russia."

Clinton posted the picture to Twitter, where it has currently racked up over 10,000 retweets. It's no Oscar selfie but, hey, there's still time. (CNN)
