Of course, it's been 20 years since front man Kurt Cobain's death, leaving a gaping hole in the lineup for the reunion. It goes without saying, that's not an easy position to fill.
There's been some speculation that Michael Stipe or Paul McCartney might join Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear to perform during the ceremony. Yesterday, however, the Foo Fighters posted a photo to its Instagram account of the band's drums and guitars. And, alongside them, was Joan Jett's Gibson Melody Maker.
Nothing's been confirmed, but the mere presence of the rock siren's axe might allow some Nirvana fans to breathe a sigh of relief — especially if it means that dowdy ol' Sir Paul is out of the running. Could you imagine him singing "Lithium" or "Moist Vagina," anyway? No, we can't either. (Stereogum)
