On most days, we listen to "Flawless" at least once. This is usually while we're getting ready in the morning. We know all the lyrics by heart now. Needless to say, we've also memorized the sampling of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's TED talk on feminism from 2013. Now, in addition to being Bey's favorite feminist, Adichie's been shortlisted for the Baileys Women's Fiction Prize (formerly the Orange Prize) for her work Americanah. She shares the shortlist with other big-name writers like Jhumpa Lahiri (The Lowland) and Donna Tartt (The Goldfinch).
The shortlist also includes Hannah Kent (Burial Rites), Audrey Magee (The Undertaking), and Eimear McBride (A Girl is a Half-formed Thing). The winner will be announced on June 4. That gives you just under two months to binge-read all those books, girl. (The New York Times)
