And, to mark the 25th anniversary of its digital birth, creator Sir Tim Berners-Lee has some political words when it comes to protecting his baby, and the way we use it. In light of security whistleblower Edward Snowden and the NSA breaches of privacy, Berners-Lee is calling for a Magna Carta of sorts for the World Wide Web. Why? Because scrolling through memes on tumblr is our human right! At least, he says, in so many words.

Are we going to continue on the road and just allow the governments to do more and more and more control — more and more surveillance?" he asked the BBC Breakfast.
