Is Surfin’ The Web A Human Right? Its Founder Thinks So…

Oh, the Internet. The virtual destination where hilarious cat gifs and article-commenting trolls are alive and well. And, to mark the 25th anniversary of its digital birth, creator Sir Tim Berners-Lee has some political words when it comes to protecting his baby, and the way we use it. In light of security whistleblower Edward Snowden and the NSA breaches of privacy, Berners-Lee is calling for a Magna Carta of sorts for the World Wide Web. Why? Because scrolling through memes on tumblr is our human right! At least, he says, in so many words.
"It's time for us to make a big communal decision. In front of us are two roads — which way are we going to go? Are we going to continue on the road and just allow the governments to do more and more and more control — more and more surveillance?" he asked the BBC Breakfast. Right about now, we’d sort of give anything to peek at his browser history because there’s something he really doesn’t want to the government to see. All jokes aside, we’d like to keep Googling "How To Make Your Butt Look Bigger In Photos" without making Uncle Sam blush. (BBC)
