While in New York, Lorde phoned into Australia's Kyle & Jackie Show, the host of which threw her sexuality into question within the first minute of the interview. "I see your guys' pictures everywhere," Kyle Sandilands began. "Are you guys, like, uh, are you together now?" Cue the awkward radio silence. "Not together as in lesbians," Sandilands said fumbling to fill the dead air. "I'm not talking about 'Ellen together.' I'm talking about, like, you guys are friendly, right?" Riiight, that's exactly what you mean.
"What do you mean you're not talking about 'Ellen together?'" Lorde responded. "Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you're trying to say?" Sandilands tried to cover it up, but wound up provoking her by asking whether she was going to confirm the rumor or not. "Don't even try it," Lorde said, final answer. Sure, the two have been hanging out a lot, but since when does two girls chilling mean they're also sleeping together? Forgive the Carrie Bradshaw moment, but can we not have BFFs without being, um, GFs? We'd like to think so, and so does Lorde. And, when (the) Lorde speaks, we listen. (E!)
