The Game Of Thrones Rap Album Exists

While you have to wait until next month to launch into the visual sensation otherwise known as Game of Thrones season four, starting tomorrow, you can get your dungeons-and-dragons fix minus your television set. According to The Wall Street Journal, HBO hired a group of hip-hop and Latin music artists to create a Game of Thrones rap album entitled Catch the Throne. Ten performers — including Common, Wale, and Big Boi from Outkast — are the masterminds behind tracks with catchy lyrics like "I can bring you that Khaleesi heat / Use my King, knack for words, as an actual sword." Good luck trying to figure that one out.

But, make no mistake. This isn't just some goofy publicity stunt. HBO multicultural marketing executive Lucinda Martinez explained to the Journal that the goal of the album is to extend the Game of Thrones fan base to African-American and Latino demographics, too. "Our multicultural audiences are a very important part of our subscribers, and we don't want to take them for granted," said Martinez.
So, even if you only fall under the demographic of curious, click here to get a preview of Big Boi's track "Mother of Dragons." Just don't expect it to be anything like the inspired song "Night's Watch" from the Lonely Mountain Band. (The Verge)
