Conan O’Brien Is Hosting The MTV Movie Awards, All Is Right In The World

With all the attention being heaped on late-night contemporaries Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and Jimmy Kimmel lately, Conan O'Brien needed to make a move. And, make a move he did.
On the Tuesday night episode of his TBS talk show Conan, the ginger comedian announced that he will be hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards. Now, that's not to be confused with MTV's tentpole awards show, the VMAs, a fact not lost on Conan.
"After eight years of intense negotiations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV's second most prestigious awards show," he joked. Conan follows in a grand tradition of hosts, which includes the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Aziz Ansari, Russell Brand, Rebel Wilson, and Sarah Silverman. We've previously seen O'brien's awards-show chops when he MC'd the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2002 and 2006. But, this is MTV, so Conan will be allowed to explore the stranger corners of his psyche that have become his trademark over the years. You know what that means: The return of the Masturbating Bear.
The golden popcorn will be handed out live on April 13 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. (MTV)
