Photo: Courtesy Simon & Schuster.If you don't remember, and it might be better off if you don't, the Ashton Kutcher-starring Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs, was a flop. It's failure, however, did clear the way for what could be a very exciting project.
It just came over the wire that none other than David Fincher has signed on to direct a second Jobs biopic, which is slated to hit theaters in late 2015. What's more, Fincher is working off a finished script created by Aaron Sorkin. That's right, this new Jobs film would reunite the director and writer who brought you the wonderful (if somewhat inaccurate) gem, The Social Network, a semi-fictional account of the rise of Facebook. The box-office and critical success, you might recall, earned Oscar noms in the Best Director and Best Picture categories, while netting Sorkin a golden statue for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Best of all, Sorkin developed his current script (which may change now that Fincher is aboard) from Walter Isaacson and Dylan Bakers’s authorized and well-received 2011 biography, Steve Jobs. If our reckoning is right, not only is this shaping up into a fantastic film, but a true contender for the 2016 Oscars. (/Film)
