Born and bred in Los Angeles, Victoria's Secret angel Lily Aldridge now calls New York and Nashville home. But, just because you take the girl out of California, doesn't mean you take California out of the girl. Teaming up for her second collection with the comfort mavens behind L.A.-based line Velvet by Graham & Spencer, Aldridge sat with us at the label's Brentwood location and discussed shopping, In-N-Out, and old ladies who dress really chic.

You grew up in L.A., right? Where do you live now?
"Yeah, I grew up here. These days, I live both in Nashville and in New York."

How do you like Nashville?
“I love Nashville! It’s awesome. It has such a great community. There are so many young, cool people moving there these days. The food scene is getting so great, too. And, the music scene is amazing — obviously.”

Do you spend a lot of time in L.A.? What are your go-to spots whenever you get to come back?
“I don’t spend enough time here. I always go to In-N-Out. I always go to Sushi Park. Wow, everything I like in L.A. has to do with food! I like going to Satine and Opening Ceremony whenever I’m here — I know there’s an Opening Ceremony in New York, too, but I like the one here better.”

Have you worked with Velvet in the past?
"Yes! This is my second collection with Velvet, but I’ve been working with them for over 10 years now. It's such a California line. The clothes are very easy and wearable. It’s exactly what I want to be wearing."

What do you love about this collection in particular?
“Everything I designed for this collection is stuff I want to wear for spring. I get inspired by things I see on the streets or what my friends are wearing. I also love going uptown in New York and seeing chic older women — that doesn’t really go with this collection, but it’s great for inspiration in general.”
