OPI Gives The Topcoat A Major Makeover For Spring

Ah, the topcoat. The most hardworking member of our nail polish collection is arguably the most under appreciated. When was the last time we stopped to consider all that our manis would be missing without that crucial last layer?

This spring, OPI is giving the topcoat a much-deserved moment in the spotlight. The brand has launched a four-piece line of color-tinted topcoats. That's right: topcoat. In color. Available in sheer shades of blue, pink, yellow, and purple, these pale polishes present intriguing possibilities to say the least. Though we've yet to give it a go ourselves, OPI touts the new product as being suitable for use alone (à la Dior Nail Glow), with a base coat, or over any shade of lacquer for an "alternative" and "progressive" nail look. Oooh.

Of course, being the modern mani-lovers that we are, we're dying to take these shades for a spin. Available now on Birchbox, they'll hit salons nationwide in March. Until then, cherish the time you have with your regular clear coat — pretty soon, the game's gonna change.
