If you tuned in for the
Golden Globes last night, you probably felt like you were watching The Best of Lorne Michaels Show. Not only did we enjoy a second year of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting the awards ceremony, but presenters included former
SNL funnymen Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon. But, what's spurred even more water-cooler chatter this morning are the surprise wins for Andy Samberg and
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which took home the award for Best Comedy Series. Sure, Samberg is a comedic powerhouse, but he's not the most exciting cast member from Fox's new show. We want to take a minute to briefly discuss the amazing Chelsea Peretti. Because her character — Gina Linetti, the unsung hero of
Brooklyn Nine-Nine — is the reason you should be watching in the first place.
Peretti's got serious comedy cred. She's written for
Parks & Rec (which garnered much love at the Globes last night),
The Sarah Silverman Program, and
Saturday Night Live. (Yes, that makes her yet
another Michaels alum that graced the stage last night.) The buzz has been building around Peretti for a while now, first with
Vanity Fair's 2013 Comedy Issue and
Time's 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2013. And, we can say that her
Twitter is among the funniest we've encountered.
Peretti, we're officially watching you. Also, can we have your hair?
Now we're email buddies!
