For a woman who spends her day job in delicate gowns and opera-length gloves, we can't exactly blame Michelle Dockery for slipping into something a little more futuristic when off duty. At Sally Morrison and LoveGold's lunch in her honor in West Hollywood yesterday, the Golden Globe-nominated Downton Abbey actress looked lovely in gold David Yurman earrings with a Barbara Casasola dress. And, call us crazy, but her orange-y-and-black, colorblocked frock reminds us of something. Something...space-related. Like, say, our favorite Starship captain and intergalactic lover, James T. Kirk.
The gown's golden hue perfectly set off Dockery's delicate, British beauty. And, dare we say it, this getup is modest enough to earn even her aristocratic alter ego's approval. She looks, quite simply, stunning. So, with all due respect to the over-emoting Captain, we think Dockery easily wins this game of "Who wore it better?" Now, if Lt. Uhura were to show up in the same dress, we'd have some competition.
