OCC’s New Multipurpose Pencils Are Just What We Needed

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, creators of cruelty-free makeup marvels, is expanding its color collection into the realm of pencils. This is great news for anyone with any positive feelings whatsoever about bright colors and/or professional-quality vegan makeup — ourselves included.

All of the pencils are in a wonderfully easy-to-apply, long-lasting formula, but that's not even the biggest draw. Many of the gorgeous colors, which range from neutrals to vivids, can be used anywhere. Lips, eyes, brows — wherever the spirit guides you.
There are a couple of exceptions: Anime, Black Dahlia, Grandma, Hoochie, Trick, and NSFW aren't approved for the immediate eye area. But, in general, there aren't many rules:

There's no one telling us that Pool Boy, an aquatic blue, is only for our eyes or that Pennyroyal, a roasted peach brown, is just for our brows. And, by creating a color collection without dictating what colors should be used where, OCC is giving us the freedom to explore and play. This is going to make a lot of creative people very happy.

Many of the colors are based on best-selling Lip Tar shades, like Black Dahlia and NSFW. We have often thought to ourselves that the one thing missing from our favorite lip tar is a liner to keep it in place, so we're beyond thrilled that our wish has been granted. Additionally, there are three "everyday essential neutrals," which are gorgeous brown tones. There's also a true white, which will come in handy as we try out the white liner looks we saw on the spring runways.
Potentially the most useful pencil in this collection, though, is Anti-Feathered — a clear liner. It'll work for all those lipsticks we have that are too obscure to be paired with a matching liner.
Check out the full line of 12, and be sure to keep an eye on this brand. We can't wait to see what they come up with next.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Colour Pencils, $16, available at Sephora in February.
