January 7, 2014 UPDATE: There's been a lot of controversy surrounding Kaling's Elle cover. Many speculate why the publication opted to go with a black and white, cropped-in cover for her while the three other women got a three-quarter color shot. Others have commented on the Photoshop treatment done to her face. Well, Kaling has responded to the criticism the only way Kaling can: poised with a side of sass. She tweeted today that she loves the cover and even offered for options to see her in less clothing by marketing her TV show. So, let's look past the probable post-production processes since she's not holding a grudge, and celebrate her cover.

When Mindy Kaling isn't trolling Tinder for her TV show, she's casually posing for fashion mags, NBD. And, to our delight, The Mindy Project creator just shared a gorgeous photo of February's ELLE cover on Instagram. Of course, she looks amazing.
Kaling is in fabulously company, too. ELLE's annual Women in TV issue comes with four different covers featuring fellow funny ladies Amy Poehler, Zooey Deschanel, and Allison Williams. (This is Williams' third magazine cover this month.)
It's about time the glossy world picked up on the awesomeness that is Mindy Kaling, though. Not only is she hilarious, she's got brains to boot. And, then there's her whole mastery of the Internet thing, too. Basically, if we could be reborn as anyone else, we'd pick her. We dream that one day she might even call us, since her best friend/ex-boyfriend B.J. Novak claims she's "a girl who picks up the phone and calls whoever she wants." (Elle)
