To date, Roberts has received over 8,500 messages of support on the Facebook post, in which she reflected on her recovery from a bone marrow transplant that forced her to take a leave of absence from GMA earlier this year. Roberts wrote: "Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: 'If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.' At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude."
To top it off, today Roberts even got a nod of encouragement from FLOTUS herself, Michelle Obama.
.@RobinRoberts, I am so happy for you and Amber! You continue to make us all proud. -mo— FLOTUS (@FLOTUS) December 30, 2013
It's quite a statement from the first lady, but one that probably comes as little surprise to Roberts. After all, it was Roberts who conducted the famous interview with President Obama in which he revealed his support for same-sex marriage. "At a certain point, I've just concluded that...I think same-sex couples should be able to get married," said Obama in 2012. "When I meet gay and lesbian couples, when I meet same-sex couples, I see how caring they are, how much love they have in their hearts." (The Daily News)
