Gals, it's time to show off your blonde ambition. See the light. Reach for the bleach.

According to Kyle White, lead colorist at the Oscar Blandi Salon, 2014 is set to be the year of the platinum blonde. "Judging by client requests and everything I've seen on the red carpet and runways," White tells StyleList, "the 'It' color of 2014 is going to be platinum with a capital blonde. Celebrities like Elle Fanning, Miley Cyrus, and even Kim Kardashian are the lightest they've ever been. I'm so confident that platinum is going to be a huge trend because I've seen this pattern before. First, it was in the fashion shows, then on the celebs, and finally the editors were asking me for it. Then, they write about it and voila! It's happening in every hair salon across America."

Say no more. But, if Michelle Williams-issue baby-blonde locks aren't your thing, White advises opting for a saturated, monochromatic "power color." "It's hair color like you mean it: no in-between shades or wishy-washy tones," he explains. "It's in-your-face, strong, solid bright hair color without noticeable highlights."

Speaking of highlights, here's something to add to your list of New Year's resolutions: ditching those candy-colored highlights and super-intense ombré styles. 2014's ombré is all about a softer transition, not severe streaks.

Now that you're up to speed, it's time to ask Santa for a trip to the salon. You've been nice, right? (StyleList)
