Blake Lively Assures Us That The Ombré Lip Is Totally Wearable

Calling all ladies that doubted the ombré lip would make it into the mainstream! Blake Lively debuted the look last night at a Van Cleef & Arpels party, and, in true Lively fashion, proved that a high-fashion look can actually be totally wearable off the runway. As you can see, she demonstrated a softer, more subtle side of ombré, by sporting a super-defined burgundy lip that only subtly gets lighter toward the center of her mouth. The result? A look that's vaguely reminiscent of a Hitchcock heroine — made totally, utterly modern.

Paired with shiny, sculpted Old Hollywood waves and lush lashes, Lively looks like a Russian princess who has briefly stepped inside from the snow. The key product here is a deep burgundy lip liner — simply line your lips after applying a dark garnet lipstick, and use a lip brush to blend the line towards the center of your lips (Dolce & Gabbana's lip liner has a built-in brush that would be perfect for this task).
It's not surprising that the actress looks gorgeous here, but we have to say that we're really loving a slightly edgier take on her typical sunny California-girl look. We're hoping that this appearance might signal the actress' return to the party circuit with more inspiring beauty looks to help us shake up our own holiday getups. Don't let us down, Blake!
