Lana Del Rey Gets A Little Weird In Tropico‘s Teaser Video

Somewhere between the '70s, a hazy Los Angeles, and a hallucinogenic super-8 film, a somber Lana Del Rey rests. Tomorrow, she will release Tropico, the enigmatic artist's first foray into the world of cinema. Of course, the sultry singer will debut what will surely be a highly conceptual trailer story that, according to Del Rey, follows the Biblical tale of sin and redemption. She will obviously assume the role of Eve, the epitome of lost innocence.
And, by lost innocence we mean stripteasing, glittery star pasties, and street warfare. It's like Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet meets the story of Adam and Eve (Adam + Eve?) — how...inspired. In the last teaser video before its December 5 release, Del Rey really wants to exploit the film's creativity and boundary-pushing subject matter. Watch as she tantalizes a wannabe Elvis before slipping into a sensible Mother Mary outfit. Its loftiness is endearing, but, honestly, we're trying to figure out what Instagram filter she slapped on the footage. Valencia? Hefe? Kelvin? Oh, please say it's not Kelvin.
