There's a very important conversation happening over at XOVain right now about whether brown lipstick is better than this season's perfect plum. We couldn't help but want to weigh in, as our lipstick feelings could fill an encyclopedia. The key, according to XOVain, is making sure the brown shade in question isn't too '90s. We personally think there's nothing wrong with looking straight-up 1993-chic, but we understand how one could disagree.
That being said, we do think that everyone should try wearing a brown-based red before fall ends. It's one of the prettiest ways to rock a bold lip in the daytime, and a muddy version of a classic shade looks ultra-cool (we're partial to Illamasqua's Howl, if you're looking). Plus, this earth tone is about as autumnal as you can get — it's literally the colors of the leaves right now (a whole new way to be matchy-matchy).
