In the great big world of lipstick, there's not a lot we haven't tried. Matte, satin, glossy, sheer, cashmere — it takes a lot to surprise us. So, when Lipstick Queen's new lippies landed on our desks, we were positively delighted to discover that they have a metallic foil finish. We've been so busy obsessing over metallic eye makeup that we didn't even think to bring our lips into it. We officially owe our pouts an apology, because these lipsticks are definitely what's been missing in our lives.
There's an important difference between a metallic finish and a metallic foil finish. Whereas a straight-up metallic finish, while gorgeous in an eyeshadow, would perhaps be a little bit much on the mouth, a foil finish is metallic in certain lights, and shimmery in others. In other words, it's an "is she or isn't she wearing metallic lipstick?" vibe rather than an "are you a robot?" vibe — and that makes all the difference.
As for what to wear these with? Well, we're honestly fans of pairing a shimmery eyeshadow with this sort of lipstick — it is the holidays, after all (okay, almost). The key to playing up your eyes and lips like that is keeping your skin matte so as not to get lost in a metallic shimmer face explosion. Unless that's your thing, of course.
