Here's a bit of '80s movie gossip that makes us want to up-chuck and die: In the latest issue of V Magazine, cover star Winona Ryder claims starring in the 1988 dark comedy
Heathers
— a.k.a., one of the greatest films of all time — cost her another film role. Like, seriously?

"I was fired from a movie because I did Heathers," the still-smokin' former teen queen admits. "I was cast in a movie and the director saw an advance screening [of Heathers] and was offended by it and fired me. It wasn’t until years later that it became more appreciated.”

So wrong. Apparently, it wasn't the first time our Winona went underappreciated. Prior to getting her big break in Lucas (pause for a moment of silence), the waifish beauty had to be pulled out of junior high and home-schooled after being "gay-bashed" by students who thought she was a boy.
“I was obsessed with Bugsy Malone and had cut my hair short," she recalls. "I remember the halls were empty and these kids started shouting ‘faggot,’ and I didn’t think they were talking to me. Walking home after leaving the nurse’s office — and I’ve never talked about this — I remember pressing on the bandage because I wanted it to look more dramatic. I had this inner monologue going of Humphrey Bogart, like, ‘being roughed up!’ I was pretending I was in some gangster movie. It was oddly my way of dealing with it, because if I didn’t, I probably would have been really scared.”
No joke. Haters gonna hate, girl. Let's just remember that there's only one gal who's inspired a tattoo on Johnny Depp's arm, mmmkay? (V Magazine)
