A lost era of Dior? Mon Dieu! It's not every day that we get access to would-have-been-iconic moments in forgotten fashion history, but newly uncovered images from Mark Shaw, currently on auction at 1stdibs, showcase some epic hidden moments in the luxury house's midcentury past.

Shaw, LIFE magazine's star celebrity photographer at the time, enjoyed full access to Dior's in-house shows and, in these photos, shares a rare, intimate glance at what went on behind the scenes. There are masked models, partying models, and brooding models — one so uniquely moody that she was apparently fired for not being conventional enough.
