Even though it doesn't hit retail shelves until November 5, M.I.A. has posted all 15 tracks of her new album Matangi to her VEVO account. It's been a long time coming. The album was originally given a January 2013 release date, and then another one in April. In the interim, M.I.A. released "Bring the Noize," produced by Surkin and Switch, as the album's first single in June. It was finally given the November date after M.I.A. badmouthed her label, Interscope, on Twitter for its repeated delays.
According to Rolling Stone, M.I.A. produced much of the album herself, but also collaborated with Danja, Hit-Boy, and Switch. As for its style, Matangi is a blend of genres — except for dubstep, that is. M.I.A. recently told NME, "In the last two years it's been cool to do dark shit. Everyone's been slowing your shit down and making you slur. That's not Matangi." Instead, there's the electro-driven hip-hop she's known for in "Bring the Noize" and "Bad Girls," and the R&B-ish rhytms of "Sexodus." Check out the whole album above. (Rolling Stone)
