Apple Sets Record Sales With The iPhone 5S & 5C

At this point in the gadget trajectory, Apple could release a shiny metal piece of fruit (extra-cool points if it's in gold) and the public would still place it on a pedestal, right next to the Mona Lisa. Has Apple secretly implanted mind-controlling chips in our heads? Let's just take a look at the facts, shall we? Sleepy-eyed, we line up hours (even days) before the company's latest innovation hits its shiny, minimalistic store shelves. It's enough to make one wonder when the pandemonium might stop. Well, based on this past weekend's release of the iPhone 5S and 5C, it's not happening anytime soon.
With 9 million smartphones off the shelves, Apple sold the most iPhones ever, in one weekend. (Apple actually sold out of its initial stock of the 5S.) This more expensive model — $7.65 million of the $9 million revenue is estimated to have come from the 5S alone — is said to have been three-and-a-half times more successful than its colorful sibilng, the 5C.
"This is our best iPhone launch yet," CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. Not only were the money numbers record-breaking, but the release of iOS7 was also the company's best. Over 200 million phones have been updated to the minimalist-chic operating system, bringing iTunes Radio to the palms of said users. According to Apple, the music streaming platform earned 11 million unique visitors in its first week. And, with more new iPhones being made as we speak, there's still plenty of Apple juice to go around and hook on new brand loyalists. (The Verge)
