All good things must come to an end. Sometimes, as with TV, that's actually a blessing; cutting a show off before it turns unbearably sour after one too many seasons keeps the fondness factor at a high. It worked with 30 Rock (though, we'd give pretty much anything to see that show back on the air). And, as unhappy as we are about this latest news, it might work with True Blood: HBO officials have announced that the show will see its final episode in 2014.
The upcoming seventh season will be the last, to the great disappointment of many Sookie fans and the various 'shippers hanging their hopes on the show's many romances. Executive producer Brian Buckner promises "the most passionate fans in television" won't be let down by the final season. All we can do is hope that they write an ending that feels natural, rather than a sudden death or an all-too-neat conclusion. And, ideally, at least a few more Alexander Skarsgard nude scenes.
