A person's 21st birthday has become something of a big ol' welcome to adulthood bash, where alcohol flows and sloppiness is pretty inevitable — in America, that is. It's a little different in the U.K., but the 21st birthday is still a milestone. For It-Girl Cara Delevingne, however, the big day was a quiet family event. Rather than throwing the biggest, prettiest, and most envy-inducing party ever (like Karlie Kloss did), Delevingne is ringing in young adulthood with a detox.
You heard that right. Cara D was supposed to celebrate in Ibiza, but has instead canceled the trip for a six-week retreat to Mick Jagger's Caribbean villa in Mustique. It seems the model met with her agency, who urged her to take a break — Delevingne revealed her struggle with psoriasis in next month's W magazine, a condition brought on by stress. Being the model of the moment understandably means carrying pretty stress-heavy baggage, and add on Delevingne's party-girl antics, and break-outs are almost unavoidable.
"Her family were especially worried she was taking the partying to extremes and sat her down for a talk," a source told the Daily Mail. "She agreed to ease up, and take herself away to totally chill out, detox and unwind." Delevingne knows the repercussions of her night life, and is shameless in admitting when it gets to be too much — both Rihanna and Kate Moss have been shoulders to lean on, and this self-prescribed detox is a step in the right direction for the model. She admitted to W her reluctance towards the modeling world, and plans on leaving the runway for the silver screen and music industry in the near future. So, perhaps staying in a Rolling Stone's abode will awaken her inner glam-rock goddess. (Standard)
