Teen Choice Awards Best Dressed: 7 Stars Who Keep It Fun

The Teen Choice Awards generally don't get much love in the best-dressed category. Not because there aren't a lot of fashionable people attending — actually, there are plenty — but because the night is traditionally aimed at the younger set. Granted, it's no Oscars party or Cannes carpet, but in this case, fully grown-up stars are faced with the challenge of dressing to please those who may not be old enough to actually see some of their films — and that can result in more interesting outfits than the flowing gowns and diamond jewels. Slightly more casual and infinitely more quirky than your standard step-and-repeat, these seven looks from last night's award ceremony are certainly no mere child's play...

Hailee Steinfeld
This House of Holland fit-and-flare dress couldn't be more appropriate for the event: Bright, punchy, and totally fun. Hailee, who is a red carpet pro at this point, is put together perfectly, and her flowing tresses only add to the whimsy. Not even the heavy, vampy eyeliner can weigh down this look.

Brittany Snow
Brittany Snow should change her name to Brittany Youthful Summer, with her airy Oliver Tolentino green lace dress. To make sure she doesn't float away (and to give her look a bit of substantial weight), she opted for a geometric Oroton clutch and Jennifer Fisher earrings, which kept the whole shebang modern. Her bohemian updo was refined — but totally Cali summer, as well.

Chloe Grace Moretz
Okay, Chloe Grace Moretz, we get it. You can slap on a burlap bag and still look fun, adorable, and completely on point. Fortunately for us, however, you eschewed a rucksack for a bright Christopher Kane off-the-shoulder shift, and we truly appreciate it.

Selena Gomez
At first, we paused with Selena Gomez, but the structure of her Cushnie et Ochs dress, plus the cheeky way it shows off her gams, really grew on us. The sleek, modernist simplicity (no bracelets or necklaces!) is a new step for Gomez, and we applaud her effort.

Nina Dobrev
Quietly, Nina Dobrev has been killing it on the red carpet for years. The pixie-like Vampire Diaries star is one of our unsung heroes of the small screen fashion set. Last night, her J. Mendel suit shows she means business — as in, "taking care of it" by looking totally chic, of course.

Chelsea Staub
Chelsea Kane Staub made sure that we knew her identity as a Disney darling didn't affect her wardrobe with an adorable teal Laura Basci two-piece. When historians talk about modern civilization in future generations, they'll comment on how 2013 was the year of the business-like cropped suit, and they will be in awe.

Kerry Washington
Whatever, Kerry. Just go home. You kill it every time, and it may almost be unfair how great, versatile, gorgeous, and effortless you constantly look. This flirty Stella McCartney shift is just perfect for the Teen Choice shindig, and we are simply grateful you are around to show those youngsters how its done.
