The entire album was designed to be a departure from her earlier material, to show how the artist has matured. "I'm really excited for the world to hear it because she's just...she's taking a new approach," co-writer Bonnie McKee told MTV. "I don't want to say too much about it, but it's definitely different. It's definitely a little more mature than the 'California Gurls' of yesterday."
While there's no denying that "Roar" serves as a growing-up anthem for Perry (the chorus boasts, "I've got the eye of the tiger, the fighter, dancin' through the fire, 'cuz I am the champion and you're gonna hear me roar"), it's also got the head-bopping pop beats we can't help but dance to. Judging from this one track, we think we're going to like the whole album. Listen below and tell us what you think. (Huffington Post)
