Some of the hardest working people out there are part of the restaurant industry.
Vanessa Goldschmidt had a really great day. In fact, that may be the biggest understatement of the year. Vanessa Goldschmidt had one of the best days, ever. During a regular, old shift waiting tables at Pequod's Pizza in Lincoln Park, Goldschmidt cashed out a $45 tab for her customer. Except, her customer was Seth Collins, brother of the recently deceased Aaron Collins, who tragically committed suicide last year. And as part of Aaron's last wishes, Seth is distributing $500 tips to random servers.
You see, Aaron left a note before his passing that detailed a lot of altruistic requests (like giving the $70 Aaron left behind to homeless individuals). One of the most astonishing requests was to "leave an awesome tip (and I don't mean 25%. I mean $500 on a [expletive] pizza) for a waiter or waitress." And, boy, has Seth followed through — Goldschmidt is the 56th server the Collins family has surprised with a huge tip since July 2012.
We think it's really heartwarming to see a hardworking person be rewarded in such a surprising and kind way. Check out the video, but maybe grab a box of tissues first. (Chicago Tribune)
