Exclusive: Karlie Kloss Reveals The Mishap That Almost Ended Her Modeling Career

We're not gonna lie: We've been paying more attention to our Victoria's Secret catalogs ever since Karlie Kloss made the move from catwalk superstar to Victoria's Secret Angel back in March. Seriously, can you blame us? Just take a look at the behind-the-scenes video above for VS' latest campaign, featuring mix-and-match bras and panties.

The bona fide babe, posing alongside other Angels Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, and more, knows how to work a bikini just as well as a Marc Jacobs design, which is why it's so odd to think that Kloss ever had doubts about modeling. That face, that stomp, the attitude — it's like the 20-year-old was born to rule. But, in an exclusive interview with R29, Kloss reveals that a runway mishap resulted in her rethinking her career.

So, what's it like to do a photo shoot in St. Bart's with the other VS models?
"We always have so much fun on those shoots, they end up feeling more like vacation than work!"

What's the most exotic place you've gone to for a shoot?
"We did a beautiful VS shoot in Turks and Caicos in this hidden cave on the beach. The pictures from that shoot are magical!"

You're an incredibly busy model, when and where are you taking your next vacation?
"I just got back from Iceland, it was the most extraordinary trip I've ever taken."

What are your summer vacation clothing and beauty essentials?
"All I need on a summer vacation is a great VS swimsuit and sunscreen."

Do you work out? What's your exercise routine?
"I just became addicted to Soul Cycle!"

You mentioned that you wanted to go to college, specifically Harvard. Will you really?
"Education is very important to me, I hope to when the time is right."

You just designed a line of jeans for women with endless legs, how did the idea come about?
"I have never been able to find jeans that fit! So, I designed my own, obviously!"

Do you have other design projects in the pipeline?
"You'll just have to wait and see!"

You tear it up on the runway and in ad campaigns, mostly recently for Jean Paul Gaultier. Has there ever been an embarrassing or cringe-worthy moment on the job?
"Too many to count! I remember losing a shoe on the runway and thought my career was over! But the show goes on."
